Staunton Disc Golf Club

Joey Reed shot an impressive three under par 54 on the blue tees to yellow baskets layout at the Kiwanis DGC to snag the #1 club tag in TAG League action May 5.  The match was played in steady rain.  Reed then lit out for the West Virginia border.  Since the West Virginia Disc Golf Association does not have an extradition treaty with Virginia, club members assume the #1 tag is gone for the year.  The participants, scores, and tags earned are as follows:   Joey Reed, 54 (1); Will Carson Grant, 62 (7); Courtney Biel, 64 (15); Roy Carter, 68 (19); Kristin Reed, 73 (non club member); J.R. “Clyde” McKinney, 76 (20); Todd Ashworth, 76 (26); Stan Juchno (DNF-injury); (27).

The SDGC TAG League will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday for regular TAG League action.  The handicapped TAG league will meet Sunday at 2 p.m.  The layouts will be:

Saturday (regular league):  Blue Tees to Yellow Baskets (blunoellow)

Sunday (handicapped):  Red Tees to Yellow Baskets (rellow)

Come out and join the fun.  #1 tag holder Courtney Biel is expected to participate.

Louie Miller aced the 158-foot 16th hole, aptly named “Ace Ventura”, during SDGC handicapped tag league action April 29 at the Kiwanis DGC. Fourteen discers were on hand for the first session of weekly handicapped league play.  Jeff Schwalm brought the #2 tag and a -2 handicap to the match.  Schwalm finished with a handicap adjusted score of 49, five under par, to win the match and retain his tag.  The rest of the handicap adjusted scores, and the tags they were awarded, are as follows:  Louie Miller, 50 (12); Bear Martin, 53 (14); Will Carson Grant, 54 (15); J.R. McKinney, 54 (19); Stan Juchno, 58 (20); Todd Ashworth, 58 (23); Roy Carter, 59 (26); Blu Noel, 61 (27); “Jimmy” James Hays, 62 (28); Evan Hicklin, DISC (30); J.W. Bryant (non-member); Pete ? Seven discers braved the raindrops and cool temperatures to tee off at the Saturday TAG League on April 28.  All of them left the course with the tag they brought to the match.  Rene Devito shot 10 under par 44 to easily retain the #1 club tag.  Mitch Dickens fired an impressive 50 to finish second and hold onto the #5 tag.  The other participants, scores, and tags retained were:   Will Carson Grant, 55 (#15); Louie Miller, 56 (#20); Roy Carter, 61 (#27); Stan Juchno, 67 (#28).  One discer was disc-qualified for a late entry.
